Every once in a while my fur needs more grooming than I can do by myself. That's when my First Attendant carries me out on the deck and gently grooms off my old furs. Large wisps of my old fluff float away in the breeze and I'm left with a super soft new fur coat. First Attendant says this is tidier and easier than grooming me indoors. This morning while I was receiving my grooming on the deck, we noticed some birds perched on the deck railing. They were watching us intently. They seemed very excited.
"Fluff! Fluff!" said the birds to each other, hopping around and flapping their wings a little.
"You just can't find fluff like that anymore," said one bird.
"It's the good stuff," said another bird.
The birds could hardly wait till my spa session was finished before swooping in, chirping and singing the whole time, to gather up my discarded fluff. They told all their friends, too. Many hours later, birds were still arriving on our deck to look for my old furs. First Attendant saw one bird couple, a mommy and daddy, searching very hard for the fluff they had heard about -- but they were too late, there was nothing left for them.
First Attendant felt bad, so he found a few wisps of fluff around the house and carefully tucked them in the flower pots on the deck, in case the birds came back.
Once in a while, my attendants do something completely right.
Here is the new bunnybed that First Attendant made for me. As you can see, it is specially designed to fit me perfectly. It has a soft cushion underneath for my comfort and a rim around the sides so I won't accidentally slip and fall out in the middle of a nice lounge.
First Attendant says my bunnybed is also designed to show off how special and important I am. On either side there are other special things, but the most important one is in the middle.
I like my bunnybed because now I have my very own place in my attendants' lounge-nest. When we all lounge together, it's very companionable. Plus, now I can hop up and supervise them whenever I want.
From my new bunnybed perch, I can see all around the house, which is really nice for a bunny. It makes me feel safe. I can also ask my attendants for pets whenever I want -- and get them!
When I face one way on my new bunnybed, First Attendant has to pet me. When I have received enough pets from him, I turn the other way. That means it's Second Attendant's turn to pet me. Then we start over. It is working out very well.
It's easier to supervise my attendants now that my bunnybed makes me as tall as them.
The bunnybed made fruit treats when it was brand new. I dig at it periodically to see if it will make more.
Crom tagged me, so here are my eight things.
1. I have horizontal white stripes across my front foots that just
developed earlier this month. My people say they look just like white
summer sandals.
2. When I was only a very small beginning bun, I
was taken away from my mommy. I was scared and hungry for a long time
after that.
3. Today I am a very fierce bun and can defend my food
from anyone. When I feel threatened, I assume what my peeps call my
Pikachu stance and rorntrl*, "I can take you!" People usually run away after that. But sometimes Daddy picks me up and cuddles me, so then I have to nip him.
3.
My friend Her Nibbleness taught me about the reverse ear-pet. My peeps
only did regular ear-pets before, but now I sometimes say to Daddy,
"Can I have the Nibbles ear pet?"
4. I like it when my peeps fight
over me. Once I heard them fighting about the very best way to store my
fruit treats for maximum freshness. I liked it so much that I flopped
in my bunny bed. My peeps stopped fighting then and started telling me
how cute I was. Boo.
5. I can understand lots of what my peeps say
to me and to each other, but most of the time I just ignore them. I
don't care what they say as long as they're talking about me.
6. I
insist on being served first at meal times. Daddy has to wait until I
am eating before he can start. Mommy eats last. This is correct bunny
petting order.
7. Everyone has a snuggle spot. That's the place
where the love comes in easiest. Mine is on my forehead, right above my
nose. It's my favorite spot to receive pets.
8. Every bunny has a
true bunny name. My peeps call me Indy, but that's just my people name.
My true bunny name is Binks for Badness.
*Rorntrl = a peculiar bunny combination of grunt, growl, and oink.
Meet Talisman, from The Bunny Lovers Shop Blog:
As you can all see, life is getting quite hard those days as It's really demanding to find a proper and definitive position to sleep. As simple as it may seem, sleeping is an art not everybody can master perfectly, nor it is something to be taken for granted. A lot of hard work, deep thinking and endless hours of sleep were required to achieve this high level of sleeping excellence ! One has to dedicate his life to some noble cause.....I think I've found mine and will let you know on every new discovery on the subject. If on your side you have some tips and secrets about this ancient art, don't hesitate and tell me!
My peeps have always dreamed of taking photos like these for a family Christmas card. To them I say, ha HA! I'm a Princess Bun. I don't wear Santa hats. But I could tell that this made my peeps sad, so I graciously let them post these pics from the Blackburn family's photo shoot instead. Some buns do not have the same high standards as me, I guess.
View clips from the amazing Sixth Annual Bunny Festival - held this past Saturday, October 28, 2007, in Santa Barbara, California.
My attendants couldn't figure out how to embed this particular video. Here is the link.
Now this is a fair! This year 300 beautiful, pampered bunny princes and princesses graced the festival (dutifully attended by their humble bunslaves, about 600 strong.) Note the delicious soft green grass that the bunnies can relax on as they hang out (so much better for our delicate furfoots than those nasty wire cage floors.) Lucky attendees of BunnyFest enjoyed Bunny Olympics and the Bunny Spa. There was also a silent auction and vendors (to raise funds for rabbit rescue), fun children activities, and of course rabbit adoptions.
My peeps said next year we will all go to the Bunny Festival together as a family. I don't like car trips at all but the big bunny party sure looks like fun!
My peeps never knew me as a baby bun. They like to look at pictures of baby bunnies and imagine what I looked like at that age.
My good friend Lauri just posted a cute video of Crustabel being a very good piggy about taking her medicine. It reminded me of the time last spring when I was having tooth and stomach problems. Now, most of us get a little cranky when we're sick. Even a perfect rabbit like me can sometimes be stubborn and obstructive when I have a tummy ache. But I wanted all my friends to know that I can also be a good rabbit about taking my medicine, just like Crustabel. Check out these pictures and see for yourselves.
You can see by my face I'm not feeling so great.
Because I wouldn't eat hay on my own, my peeps also had to feed me hay mush from a large syringe. I acted like I didn't like it at first, but it was really pretty good! As soon as I started to feel better, I would demand haymush as if they were pellets or treats. You can see how much I enjoy my haymush in these pics.
My favorite thing about me being sick last spring is that my peeps started hand-feeding me organic baby lettuces just to encourage me to eat. I love fresh greens, but my peeps were always too stingy and disobedient to feed them to me before. Now I am completely well again and I still eat fresh greens three or four times a day!
This is me getting a nice head-skritch from First Attendant while in my bunny bed. It always makes me feel better.
